Your best chance to volunteer as an individual is to email and ask to be added to our "SNL," the Short Notice List. This is where we turn when a group cancels or needs to add people to their workforce. We will call you when we need extra volunteers.

Most of our days at the Soup Kitchen are steadily staffed by volunteers from organizations (churches, businesses or charitable groups) who volunteer on a monthly or semi-monthly basis. Many of these groups have been coming regularly for 20 or more years. They provide the food, cook and help clean up the kitchen. Not all groups provide all the food; that varies from group to group. Most of the food donated to the Soup Kitchen is used on "open" days or to help fill out the menu for the smaller churches who need help to fill out their meal..

Aside from those "steady" days with set groups, we now have zero days without a scheduled group in 2011. That can change, so please call to find out about current openings or get your group added to the waiting list.

Please NOTE: Volunteers must be at least 12 years old, and volunteers ages 12-17 must have a parent sign a release form before they begin work. Volunteers under the age of 18 are not allowed to operate equipment such as the slicers, knives, etc. These requirements are state law, so there are no exceptions.

Community Service Volunteers
We welcome community service volunteers at the Soup Kitchen. You must speak with the Executive Director to arrange your service. We do not take any offenders with theft or violence issues.
