The Soup Kitchen, Inc. (the Benton Harbor Soup Kitchen) began operations on March 8, 1980 serving three meals a week. The Soup Kitchen, an independent non-profit corporation, now serves a large, healthy noon-time meal every day of the year. Over 60,000 meals were served last year.

The Soup Kitchen is staffed by volunteers from churches, clubs, businesses and schools who prepare and serve the meals. Most groups also purchase the food for their serving day. The Soup Kitchen has strong support from thousands of generous individuals, churches, organizations, and companies who are committed to taking care of those in need in our community. Our database of volunteers and donors has now topped 10,000 entries. Over 15,000 volunteer hours were logged at the Soup Kitchen last year.

Your support is vital to the Soup Kitchen. Less than 2% of our funding comes from grants...98% comes from individuals and businesses in our communities.
We need YOUR help: No client pays anything for Soup Kitchen food or services.
